Broad-leaved Helleborine (Epipactis helleborine), Broomhill allotments, Glasgow, taken by David Palmar. By late August the flowers have gone over and developed into seed pods. The broad leaves can be seen at the foot of the stalk.
Broad-leaved Helleborine (Epipactis helleborine), an orchid known as the Glasgow weed, taken on Broomhill Alllotments by David Palmar. It has broad, oval leaves at its base, and a spiral of drooping flowers up its stem. In this picture taken in November, the flowers have developed into egg-shaped fruits which contain many small seeds.

Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna, formerly Ranunculus ficaria) leaves, just before flowering begins in April on the Kelvin Walkway, Glasgow. Celandines are one of the earliest spring flowers, just being beaten by Dandelions, Coltsfoot and Primroses.
