The Smoky Wainscot (Mythimna impura) is a moth of the family Noctuidae. Smoky Wainscot is similar to Common Wainscot (Mythimna pallens) but has generally more speckled markings, particularly a stripe along the central vein of the forewing. The hindwing is ‘smoky’ - and is often quite dark. Photo taken by David Palmar at Insh Marshes.
