Spey Bay
Green-veined White (Pieris napi) butterfly on Yarrow at Spey Bay. It is similar to other white butterflies, but has prominent green stripes on the undersides of its wings. It also has black wingtips and one or two black spots on the forewing. Photo taken by David Palmar.

Green-veined White (Pieris napi) on Bloody Cranesbill (Geranium sanguineum), taken by David Palmar. This is a female, spring brood individual. Later in the season the dark grey/brown colouration on the upperwing becomes less obvious.

The Common White Wave (Cabera pusaria) is a moth from the family Geometridae and is commonly distributed throughout Britain. Often confused with the Common Wave (Cabera exanthemata), but is generally whiter with more parallel cross-lines on the forewing.
