Similar in appearance to other members of the Carrot family Apiacae, such as the deadly Hemlock (Conium maculatum). Wild carrot (Daucus carota) isn't very palatable unlike the cultivated version. This plant mainly occurs around the coast in Scotland and flowers in summer between June and August. This picture was taken at Fallin Bing in Stirlingshire.

Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) doe, taken by Rebecca Dickson in Milngavie, Glasgow. These medium-sized deer are native to mainland Britain. The oldest records of them date to before the Mesolithic period (6000 to 10000 years BC).

Giant Hogweed (Heracleum mantegazzianum), an invasive non-native species (INNS) which can cause burning of the skin if handled. This photo was taken in winter beside the River Kelvin, Glasgow, which was probably partly responsible for its spread.
