Yellow Dung Fly (Scathophaga stercoraria) feeds on other flies as well as nectar and even the dung that they breed on. This one was seen on Creeping thistle (Cirsium arvense), RSPB Loch Lomond Nature Reserve.

Great Yellow Bumblebee (Bombus distinguendus) on Red Clover (Trifolium pratense), Balranald RSPB nature reserve, North Uist. One of Britain's rarest bumblebees, the Great Yellow is now restricted to some Scottish islands and the very north of Scotland. It has a particular association with nectar producing plants such as Red Clover and Bird's Foot Trefoil.

Fly Orchid (Ophrys insectifera), Warburg BBOWT nature reserve, Oxfordshire, taken by David Palmar. Its flowers mimic an insect, to attract pollinators, in fact certain wasps, to pollinate it. BBOWT is the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. Warburg is one of their more varied and interesting reserves.
