Northern Minke whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) off Gunna Sound between Coll and Tiree, Argyllshire, looking towards Bac Mòr, or the Dutchman's Cap. The name Minke is thought to be a partial translation of Norwegian minkehval, possibly after a Norwegian whaler named Meincke, who mistook a Northern Minke Whale for a Blue Whale.
